Soraya Duval is Amy's best friend who works at her mom's diner, Maggie's Diner. She is always there for Amy and becomes friends with Ashley. She is hired by Lou to run the Heartland dude ranch. Soraya eventually moves to London, England to be near her boyfriend.
Season 1[]
We first see Soraya after a trip to Quebec, she returns and visits Amy and goes for a trail ride with her. When Nick Harwell comes into the Diner she becomes besotted with him and starts to act lovestruck when he's around. She convinces Amy to start thinking about show jumping again. (After the Storm) Soraya is working at Maggie's when the Briar Ridge commercial plays. She goes out on a trail ride with Amy and when she goes back to Heartland she meets Ben and is instantly smitten. When he invites Amy and Soraya to the party at Briar Ridge she begs Amy to go so she can spend time with Ben. When they're at the party she convinces Amy to talk to Ty. (The Best Laid Plans) Lou goes to Maggie's to collect the feed order, she's surprised when Soraya brings her cubes as she tried to change to pellets since they're cheaper. Soraya tells her she thought it was a mistake since Marion never ordered pellets. (One Trick Pony)
1x07
Soraya is enjoying watching Ben on his new jumping course, she's being obvious that she likes him and compliments his jumping. Amy tries to get her to see what she's doing and try to be more reserved. When Amy tells Ben she can't go to the jumping show Soraya tells her how happy she is that she gets to spend 2 days alone with Ben. (As long as her mum doesn't find out.) Later, when Amy is talking to Lou about Ben leaving for the jumping show, she mentions how Ben doesn't like Soraya and she overhears. She tells Amy that her mum found out and she had to come back. Amy apologises and invites Soraya to another show next weekend and they make up. Ben returns from his show and Soraya meets him to find out how he did. (Come What May) Soraya is working at Maggie's with hermum. She's reading the newspaper article piling pressure on Amy about working with Gallant Prince. When Tim arrives she tries to warn Amy, but is then awkward while they talk. (Out of the Darkness) When she's working at Maggie's Kerry-Anne comes in and manages to scam her out of $20. She later overhears Ashley spreading rumours about Ty so calls Amy to let her know. (Ghost from the Past) Soraya is impressed when Ben tells her and Amy that Nick will be coaching him. She is annoyed when Ashley interrupts and starts flirting with Ben. After the incident with the mustangs, Amy goes to Maggie's to inform Soraya of Ben moving out back to Fairfield, she was already aware due to Ashley's status updates online. (Born to Run) Soraya attends Ashley's after party with Amy and Ty. Ashley tries to make her jealous by kissing Ben. She tells them that she can't go to the jumping show because her mum won't let her after she failed biology. When they leave Briar Ridge she announces that she's over Ben. She later helps other friends and neighbours re-build the barn at Heartland after the fire. (Rising from Ashes)

Season 2[]
2x01
Soraya tells Amy about her plans to be a rodeo queen, Amy encourages her. At Amy's party Ashley teases her about it and she regrets telling her. (Ghost Horse) Soraya studies with Amy in Maggie's bragging about how happy she is since the new waitress started. She later is working at the Diner totally stressed out because the new waitress is away, thus giving Lou the idea to get a job there. (Letting Go) Amy goes to Maggie's and talks to Soraya about Ty, she's happy they will be spending the evening together, but Amy starts to get nervous. Lou calls Amy telling her that Caleb has called in sick but Soraya tells her that he's not, she saw him at Briar Ridge this morning. They head over and see him helping Ashley with her barrel racing. She gets annoyed when Ashley tells her she's entering the rodeo too and wants to win rodeo queen. (Corporate Cowgirls) Soraya tells Ashley that she's worried about the rodeo queen article. Later at Maggie's, she tells Amy that she thinks she should drop out because Ashley's going to win. She also tells Amy that Maggie told her about the accident with Mark's brother. (Holding Fast) Lou is coaching and annoying Soraya for the rodeo queen competition. She complains to Amy at Maggie's about Lou until they see Ty trying out the mechanical bull. Lou tries to put Soraya's make up on but she doesn't like the outfit so fidgets. Lou continues to pick on every little detail so Soraya quits. Maggie is annoyed that she quit and tells her that she will sponsor her instead. She comes in 2nd as the rodeo queen and sees a drunk Lou at the party after. Lou apologises and puts herself down so Soraya tries to cheer her up and calls her a role model. (Sweetheart of the Rodeo) Soraya is working at Maggie's when Ashley's card is declined. She warns her she has to cut it so she can't pay her bill. She tells her she has to wash dishes , much to her horror. (Summer's End)
2x09
Soraya and Amy complain after their first day of school, they are shocked they have homework on day one. When they have a rancher's meeting at Maggie's a rancher brings in a cow and causes chaos. Soraya is disgusted at the state of the place and is adamant if anyone brings in another cow she'll call her Mother. (Showdown!) Amy and Soraya gawk at the new BB Simon belt at Maggie's, Caleb tells Amy that when he wins his next rodeo he'll buy it for her. Soraya is in shock when she notices a new customer enter the Diner, Mindy Fanshaw, famous actress. Ashley and Soraya tell Amy about seeing Mindy in Maggie's, they also spot some guys sitting nearby and believe they're paparazzi. Amy plays it off and acts as though she knows nothing, as per her confidentiality agreement. The three girls talk again about Mindy on the school bus, when Amy starts to talk about how the stories are lies and how she looks different to the pictures now, Soraya and Ashley get suspicious so follow her off the bus. They manage to get her to admit that Mindy is staying at the Dude Ranch, leaving Soraya angry that she lied to her. Amy goes to Maggie's to apologise to Soraya, and tells her that she'd understand if she called the paparazzi. This angers Soraya further to think that she'd blame her and tells her to leave. When Mindy leaves, she stops off at Maggie's and gives the belt back to be gift wrapped and given to a friend. Amy arrives and Soraya passes on the gift, she gives it back to Soraya as an apology. (Starstruck!) Amy goes to Maggie's and vents to Soraya that Ty still hasn't told her about Kit which is why she wanted to go away for the weekend with him. Ashley arrives and asks Amy if she's heard from Caleb. Ashley lies and tells them that he's constantly texting and calling her, she asks Amy and she tells her that he hasn't got in touch with her. (Step By Step)
Season 3[]
3x01
On the school bus, Soraya and Ashley tease Amy about her and Ty. After the crash she stays on the bus and later joins the crowd in awe watching Amy help Caesar. Ashley starts working at Maggie's and isn't doing a very good job, annoying Soraya. When Amy comes in and talks about someone being difficult Ashley believes she's talking about Ty but is actually talking about Caesar. Val comes in and Ashley walks away not wanting to talk to her. After she leaves, Soraya tells her that if her Mum was ill like Val she would want to talk to her. Ashley tells her that she wants to be there for her but some things are unforgivable. (Miracle) When Caleb goes into Maggie's, Soraya forces Ashley to serve him helping Amy and Ty with their set up plan. Amy, Ashley and Soraya have lunch at Maggie's when Ashley tells that how angry she is because she knows about their plan to set up her and Caleb to get him out of the Loft. (Little Secrets) At Maggie's, Ashley tells Soraya that she's changed her mind about going to the formal as she's told Caleb Odell she's going and want to make him jealous. (Man's Best Friend) At Maggie's, Ashley, Soraya, Amy and Mallory tell Ty about Mr. Hanley and the ghost story about his farm. When it was owned before Hanley's father bought he farm, the farmer's daughter was dating the stable hand and didn't approve, he burned down the barn and all the horses and the stable hand died. When the Hanley's took over they re-built the barn on the exact spot the old one stood, and it's now haunted by the stable hand, he wears a long black coat and when his hood is removed his face is burned off. A hooded figure enters the Diner and they all watch in fear as Caleb removes his hood and tells them about the bad weather blowing in. When Caleb sits in Ashley's section she persuades Soraya to serve him instead and give an excuse as to why she's not serving him. She reluctantly goes over and he tells her that he was hoping for a different server. She sits with him and gives him advice, he needs to give her time but when the time's right he needs to say something nice and flash his sweet smile and it will work. Amy and Ty go to Maggie's to buy torches to stay at The Hanley Place, Soraya and Caleb are surprised that they're going since Mr. Hanley seems crazy. After they leave Caleb and Soraya agree to check out the Hanley barn after her shift. Amy and Ty are at the Hanley Barn and get spooked when they hear a noise outside, they go to check it out and are scared when Caleb jumps out with an axe. Him and Soraya are laughing while Amy and Ty berate them, they then see a hooded figure in the doorway and stand stunned. Caleb steps forward and protects everyone with his axe, they are all shocked when the hooded figure branding a hook pulls down their hood to reveal... Ashley. She laughs at them all and Amy tells them to leave so that Mr. Hanley doesn't see them all and fire her. As they're leaving Soraya convinces Caleb this is the right moment so he goes back with Ashley to talk to her. (The Haunting of Hanley Barn)
3x04
Soraya's working at Maggie's, Caleb comes in with a black eye and tells them that he won big at a rodeo, Ashley isn't impressed. Soraya suggests that Ashley doesn't see a bronc rider as serious boyfriend material giving him food for thought. He returns later and announces he's switching to bulldogging and is excited when Tim offers him pointers, not interesting Soraya. (Glory Days) When Lou comes into Maggie's, Soraya asks her to tell Amy to come by as she hasn't seen her for ages. When Val comes in and tells Ashley about plans that she has for them, Ashley tells Soraya that she's driving her crazy wanting to spent all their time together. When Caleb goes to the Diner, Ashley and Soraya tell him that they haven't seen Amy for ages but he tells them about Merlin and that she and Ty are under a lot of strain. The trio arrive at Heartland and offer to help with the orphans, they stay overnight helping to feed them. In the morning, Amy thanks them for coming before they head out. (Growing Pains) Soraya is working at Maggie's when Lily and Mallory come in to buy jars for Lou's jam for the jamboree. Soraya has to tell Lily that her card has been declined and she chats with Mallory about Lou entering the jamboree and two ladies over hear not looking very pleased. (The Starting Gate) Soraya and Ashely are at Maggie's checking out the gift Amy ordered for Ty, a halter with Harley's name on it. She tells Ashley that Amy's in denial about Ty leaving since she keeps "forgetting" to pick it up. Caleb arrives for breakfast when they tell him that he's late for work, so he explains his plan to get a raise from Jack by showing him he can't do it without him. Later, Amy rushes into Maggie's on her way to the airport to pick up the halter from Soraya. (Broken Arrow)
3x13
When Heartland gets placed under quarantine, Soraya goes over to offer her help. Amy and Soraya make sandwiches while Amy tells her about overhearing Ty offer up the Loft to Kit. Soraya isn't sure what the big problem is when he offers to sleep in the Quonset Hut, she makes Amy see that she's just annoyed the pair are still friends after breaking up. Amy tries to get Pegasus to eat when Soraya comes to check on her, she admits that he's her last link to Marion and starts to feel guilty about the idea of one of her client horses bringing strangles in. Soraya is adamant that it's not her fault and admits she heard some barrel racers mention strangles at the Salma Valley Rodeo, where Kit had competed. (Quarantine) Soraya hangs out with Caleb, Ashley, Amy and Ty at Heartland while the boys go on about bareback bronc riding. When Ashley gets annoyed and leaves she and Caleb also leave. She tries to tell Caleb to talk to her as she doesn't like rodeo. The next day at Maggie's Soraya and Ashley are laughing that Amy has decided to help coach Val show jumping. Soraya joins the others and watches Caleb on tv at his rodeo. (The Happy List)

Romantic[]
When Soraya meets Ben she becomes instantly smitten with him, with not much reciprocation. Amy points out how obvious Soraya is being and she tries to play "hard to get". As soon as ben finishes a run on his new jumping course she tells him how amazing she thinks he is. This is mostly one way and she soon gets over him when he decides to go to Briar Ridge and starts hanging out more with Ashley.
After Chase gets hit by Ty for kissing Amy, he decides to give up on her. He goes to Maggie's Diner to put ice on his bruise and meets Soraya. The two fall in love instantly and start dating after Soraya's party where they kissed. It is reviled later that Chase still liked Amy, making him a player.
